Aggregation interval
Specify an Aggregation Interval to set the timeframe over which each metric value is aggregated.
Timing and extent of data collection
Aggregation Interval has different effects on when and how much data is collected, depending on the metric's Data Collection Schedule.
- For metrics with Data Collection Schedule set to Scheduled, the aggregation interval also determines the timing of data collection: daily metric values aggregate data over a 24-hour collection window starting at 12AM; hourly metric values aggregate an hour's worth of data at the top of each hour; and weekly metrics are calculated starting at 12AM on Monday. (Note that Evaluation Delay can change when collection begins, but won't change the length of the collection window.)
- Triggered metric collection does not occur until the metric is triggered. All aggregation intervals that have elapsed since the last time the metric was triggered are collected, with one metric value produced for each interval.
- Custom schedule metrics collect data on a regular basis defined by a cron expression. All aggregation intervals that have elapsed since the last time that the metric ran are collected, with one metric value produced for each interval.
Longer intervals supported for metrics
If you override table settings when you create or edit a metric, several longer periods are available options for Aggregation Interval: Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly. These options are not available as table settings— you can only choose them in a metric when you override inherited table settings.
